I just got off the phone with K., and I felt a blog post coming on strong. So, here, I sit, listening to the new Death Cab for Cutie single, “I Will Possess Your Heart,” writing in bed and wondering about the state of humankind, especially boykind.
I have a complaint to file with humankind/boykind’s complaint department: When did people forget the Golden Rule — treat others how you’d like to be treated? For reals.
I’m so tired of people acting like jerks. I’m so tired of people being insincere. I’m so tired of people just not being real — it’s incredible!
AND… Taking everything and themselves so fucking seriously.
Think twice. Would I want to be treated like that? You probably don’t. So stop. Or, I’m going to send you back to Catholic grade school.

I just had to comment on this because I liked the title of this blog. I can almost hear the song, “The year of the DOUCHE! Da dada la da da DA! Dadadadada DA!”
My guess is that things are going a hell of a lot better for you now than when this was posted. In a re-read you might notice that this is a pretty grim assessment of things, isn’t it Heather? Yeah, there’s always gonna be douches–and they may even be insincere ones–but so effin’ what! You keeps it real–don’t wait for others to do so. And to thine own self be true. If you keeps it real with yo’ bad self, you’re less likely to be consumed by some bottomfeeder mouth-breather that couldn’t give a fuck about anyone else.
And furthermore, Ms. Agnostic (or is it atheist?), since when did you start concerning yourself with Commandments and so forth. Yeah, I know–the golden rule isn’t one of the Big 10–it’s BIGGER than the Big 10. God said so.
I’m just giving you shit. Honestly, anyone of any faith (or no faith at all) could do a hell of a lot worse than to follow the Big 10 and the Golden Boy. It’d probably get you half way to the big dance for any faith, less the eating of sacred pig/cow/meat-on-Friday and so forth.
Wonder if you get some kind of notice that I posted here. Bet you never thought I would!
